Some of the core truths that we believe, practice and teach:
-
The Person of God
The Bible teaches that there is only One God, who is unchanging, uncreated and the Creator of all things visible and invisible; an uncaused Being who is the cause of all things and for Whom are all things. The Scriptures describe him as self existent, eternal, infinite, all powerful, all knowing, all present, self sufficient and sovereign. He is loving, merciful and full of grace. At the same time, He is righteous and just. God exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; each equally divine and therefore, equally worthy of the honor. They are one in essence yet three distinct persons. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Psalm 90:2, Isaiah 40:12-31, 1John 4:10, Ephesians 2:8, Romans 3:26, Acts 5:3-4, 1John 5:20)
-
Salvation
The Bible teaches that all men and women can receive forgiveness of sin and be saved from God’s judgment through faith in the Lord Christ Jesus. A person must recognize that he is a sinner, repent of his sins, and accept God’s free gift of salvation through simple faith in Christ’s atoning work on the Cross on his behalf. There is no other way to be saved. Neither is there anything that man can do to save his soul. Salvation is God’s free gracious offer that is received by simple trust in what Christ did for him on the Cross. (Acts 4:12, Romans 3:21-26, Romans 10:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-9, Galatians 1:8-9, Galatians 2:16)
-
Baptism
The Bible teaches us the baptism is an ordinance that vividly describes what already took place when a person was saved. He died with Christ, he was buried with Christ and he is raised to a new life in Christ. Consequently, the old person died on the Cross and the new man has a new life obtained at salvation now ought to live solely for the purpose of serving and honoring his Lord. When the believer is immersed in the waters of baptism, it depicts that he is dead and buried with Christ. When he is brought up out of the water, it speaks of being raised to a new life; a clean slate with new goals, new desires, and new associations. This baptism by immersion is a believer’s public identification with Christ. Baptism is neither a means nor an aid to salvation; however, all believers do so in obedience to their Lord’s desire. (Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:3-4, Colossians 2:12, 1Peter 3:21)
-
The Word of God
The Bible is inerrant, infallible and inspired. We believe the Bible is inerrant and therefore can be trusted completely. We believe the Bible to be infallible and so its promises and claims cannot fail those that rest on them. We believe in the plenary, verbal inspiration of Scripture; plenary, meaning that both the Old and New Testament form the full and final revelation of God to mankind. Furthermore, the Bible is verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit so that the very words in the original manuscripts , not merely the thoughts, were breathed out by God. We believe that God speaks to us today through His Word (1Thessalonians 2:13, 2Timothy 3:15-17, 2Peter 1:21)
-
The Lord Jesus Christ
The Bible teaches that the Lord Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man indissolubly and mysteriously linked in One Blessed Person. As God the Son, the second person of the Blessed Godhead, He is eternal and uncreated. Yet, in His incarnation, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is God revealed in flesh and, in His own person, united both deity and humanity. The Lord Jesus Christ lived the perfect sinless life here on earth – He “knew no sin”, “He did not sin”, and “in Him is no sin”. He is the only man who ever lived or will live whose life was entirely pleasing to God, and as a result, His death on the Cross was the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He died, was buried and rose from the dead on the third day, showing God’s complete satisfaction with His work, and is now seated in His rightful place at God’s right hand. (Hebrews 4:14-16, Hebrews 7:3, Hebrews 7:24-25, Matthew 1:18-23, John 1:1, John 1:14, John 2:19-21, Mark 16:6, Isaiah 11:1-11)
-
The Holy Spirit
The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and with the Son. The Holy Spirit convicts individuals of sin which leads some to repentance; no one can be saved apart from His blessed work in salvation. The Holy Spirit permanently indwells all believers and believers only from the moment of conversion. The Holy Spirit glorifies Christ, teaches and guides us through the Word of God, empowers each believer to life for God, assures the believer that He is God’s child and will never perish, intercedes for the believers at all times, sanctifies and conforms the believer day by day to the image of Christ and equips every believer to build up the body of Christ. (John 14:16-17, John 16:26, John 16:7-15, Acts 1:8, Romans 8:9, 26, 1Corinthians 3:16-17, 1Corinthians 6:19, 1Corinthians 12:13, 1Corinthians 13:8, Ephesians 1:13-14, Ephesians 4:7, Ephesians 5:18, Titus 3:5-6, Hebrews 2:3-4, 1John 2:20, 1John 2:27, 1John 3:24)
-
Assurance of Salvation
The Bible teaches that a saved person will never lose his salvation; believers are kept by the power of God unto salvation. The believer is assured by the Scriptures that he will never face God’s eternal judgment even if he occasionally falls into sin in life because of the unbreakable promise of God that “whosoever believeth in Him (Jesus Christ) should not perish but have everlasting life”. Furthermore, an obedient life yielded to God’s Word and His Spirit and bearing fruit strengthens his faith. (John 3:16, John 10:27-29, Ephesians 1:13-14, Ephesians 4:30, 1Peter 1:3-5, Romans 8:14-17, 1John 1:6, 1John 2:4-6)
-
Man and Sin
The Bible teaches that God created man in his own image. From the moment that man sinned against God by disobeying Him, he died spiritually. Spiritual death is nothing but separation of man from God due to sin; the result of a broken fellowship that man once enjoyed. All of humanity is born with a sinful nature that cannot in any way please God, and because of this sinful nature, man is dead spiritually with no hope of entering heaven. (Genesis 1:26-31, Ecclesiastes 7:20, Romans 3:19-23, Ephesians 2:1, Psalm 15)
